I have recently restarted playing World of Warcraft again after a break of a few months as a result I’ve not had much chance to do my blog. I have now decided to combine my love of Warcraft with my blog and hence the new look of this website.

I hope you enjoy it as I will be adding posts about my adventures in Azeroth on almost a daily basis.

Bandorin in the Inn in Darkshire, Azeroth.

Today I noticed that whenever I entered one of my single word bookmarks (e.g. Hotmail) into the Firefox address bar it would automatically take me to Bing rather than the bookmarked page the word referred to.

After a lot of head scratching, Google searching and checking my Firefox add-ons and extensions I found the following blog had the answer:

Xenophobilia (the true strange stuff)

After following the instructions laid out on the page my Firefox address bar works fine again now.

I would like to thank Xenophobilia for posting the fix as I was failing to find it anywhere else. I hope you find this fix as useful as I have.

A lot of people ask me what it is like not being able to see very well. Although I find this a very difficult question to answer I try my best and usually answer with: -

“Having my eyesight is a bit like a permanent life in twilight where you think you can see something in the distance, but you can never be 100% sure. You live by a mental map of where things are and you memorise everything you can so as not to put any strain on your eyes. If somebody moves any thing, for any reason, then it can be a hell of a task to find it again!”

My biggest problem is sunlight as it hurts my eyes and it creates too many shadows for my liking. Shadows make it look like there is stuff on the ground that actually is not there and also makes things far more difficult to see. Usually on sunny days I either stay in or only go to local places or only go out with my wife.

Most fully sighted people find it difficult to understand life from the visually impaired or blind persons perspective so I tell them to squint and then imagine that that is how us registered blind people see! Obviously if someone wants to know what it is like to be totally blind I get them to close their eyes completely and try walking around.

So in future if you see a blind or visually impaired person just think to yourself “I am lucky to have full eyesight and not have too go through what that person does.”

Due to the fact that I am registered blind (I have roughly 1/6 of normal vision) a lot of people amazed that I can use a computer nevermind playing World of Warcraft.

Below I have linked a YouTube video which I have just made showing people, and explaining, how I play World of Warcraft. I hope you watch it and enjoy it as it is my first attempt at creating a video with my WebCam and screen capture software.

So Jon Venables, one of the killers of James Bulger in 1993, now only gets 2 years for downloading and distributing child pornography. Has the world gone mad? When will these judges and do-gooders realise that some people are just beyond saving! They should lock him up and throw away the key which is exactly what they should have done in the first place!

I know my views may be a bit extreme to some people, but it is about time that we stop trying to rehabilitate everyone and start wheedling out those no hopers and putting them away permanently. Seriously though it is getting beyond a joke that we give people a chance time and time again even though we know they will probably just screw up again.

Okay, I will get off my Orange box now.
